Bria or VEED: which removes a video background better?

Bria lets you set what the new background will be — transparent or one of several solid colors. VEED accepts a longer clip and has two settings you can feel on difficult shots: you tell it whether the subject is a person, and whether you want cleaner edges. For a short shot with a colored or transparent background — Bria. For a long shot with hair, fur or fine details — VEED.

What is Bria better at?

Bria gives an explicit choice of background: transparent for further editing, or a solid color if the shot goes straight into use. The transparent background is the important one — it means the file can sit on top of anything.

The colors are several and preset, so you don't need to describe them.

Bria is one model with one price, with no variants to weigh up.

What is VEED better at?

VEED accepts a longer clip than Bria — see the length row. For a full recording of a person speaking, this is the difference between one run and cutting into parts.

The "person or object" setting tells the model what to expect. With a person, the outline of hair and shoulders is the hardest part, and this hint improves exactly that.

There is also edge smoothing — for shots with hair, fur or thin objects, where a halo would otherwise remain.

Where does each of the two fall short — Bria and VEED?

Where Bria falls short. It accepts a noticeably shorter clip than VEED. A long recording gets cut into pieces, and when cutting, the outline between the pieces may not match. Bria also has no edge-smoothing setting — with hair, you can tell.

Where VEED falls short. It gives no choice of color for the new background. If you need a specific solid color, you'll add it afterwards in an editing program — one more step.

How to choose between Bria and VEED?

The shot is short and the background has to be a specific color or transparent: Bria. The shot is long, with a person and hair in it: VEED.

With both, the price is per second of video, so the clip length is also the main item in the bill. Other ways to swap the setting are on the AI video generator page.
