Kling or Seedance: which should you use for image-to-video?

Kling gives you more control over a single shot, Seedance gives you more shot. Kling accepts a negative description for image to video and lets you say what should not appear; Seedance makes a significantly longer clip. Both brands have many variants, so with either one you can try cheaply and pay full price only for the final. The numbers are in the table.

What is Kling better at?

Kling accepts a negative description for photo to video too, not only for text to video. That sounds minor until you animate a product photo: “no captions in the frame”, “no extra hands”, “don't change the label” — three prohibitions save several runs.

Kling also states a description ceiling. You know how far the model reads, so you know what will be taken into account. With long descriptions that is more useful than an unlimited field where you don't know from which point on you're writing in vain.

The price tiers at Kling are clear: standard, professional, high-resolution. The same scene goes through all three without changing the brand and without its style changing.

What is Seedance better at?

Seedance makes the longest clip on the platform. If the shot needs development, not just movement, Seedance is the only one where that happens in a single run.

Seedance has more options than any other video brand here, including light and fast ones. For a stream of content — several clips a day, each with several takes — these light options are the difference between a bearable and an unbearable bill.

Seedance also offers a lower resolution for text to video. At a per-second price, this is the cheapest way to try a long shot before paying for it at high resolution.

Where does each of the two fall short — Kling and Seedance?

Where Seedance loses. For image to video, Seedance doesn’t accept a negative description — the prohibitions that save you runs with Kling don’t exist here. And its newest variant is among the most expensive models on the platform per second; with the long clip that Seedance wins on, this is felt the most.

Where Kling loses. Kling cuts the clip off earlier than Seedance. For a story with development, this is a limit that can’t be worked around with settings. Kling also accepts a shorter description, so a complex scene has to be boiled down to the essentials.

How to choose between Kling and Seedance?

You’re animating a specific photo and want it to stay the same — Kling, thanks to the prohibitions. You’re making a shot with development — Seedance, thanks to the length.

For both brands the pricing rule is the same: try on the light variants, pay for the final. The full cards of all variants are on the Kling page and on the Seedance page.
